July 2011 – Children’s Home Updates
Peter’s Memorial – India: The weather finally shaped up enough for Peter’s Memorial Children’s Home in India to get their new roof put on! Thanks to the generosity of a partner, the funding has been there for a little while now, but they had to wait until the weather permitted the tear off of the old roof and sub-structure. Hired workers brought in the new materials and got to work putting the new roof on. It’s perhaps unfortunate that this type of roof must be replaced every few years, but this type of building cannot have any other kind of roof and what’s more, it is a very common type of structure in India. Thanks again to the generous partner that provided the funds to fix the roof of Peter’s Memorial Children’s Home for girls!
Agape Children’s Home – India: We had a request from a 16 year old boy from this home who wanted to go to Electricians School, and after we put this request out to you, our donors, it only took about a week before, a long time and very generous partner called to say they wanted to provide the money for this young man to be able to go to school. Needless to say, we were very excited to get this news, but just imagine what it meant to him! For orphan children, and all children who live in poverty, the chance to go beyond high school or even complete high school, are slim indeed. But the children in our homes are doing just that…at a rate of nearly 100%! Everytime we ask for help with their education, we get it, and for that we are very thankful. The difference it will make for these children is one that will last for generations and have an impact on thousands of people that they interact with as adults…and ultimately, the world.
Naihkin Children’s Home – Far East Russia: This children’s home is a home that we have been helping for nearly 11 years now and they have come a very long way indeed. This month, we focused on helping them get ready for planting. We purchased them many thousands of seeds and seedlings and also purchased them new little piglets and chickens among other farming needs.
Tabitha’s House – Haiti: Construction is underway…slowly but surely on this children’s home. A second story is being added to create separate dorms for boys and girls. While this is happening, the boys are sleeping in a building just down the street which complies with Haiti law and common sense. The home is recieving other improvements as well which will help keep water out of the home and make it more sanitary, comfortable and safe. The health of the children in this home has improved beyond imagination as compared to when we first started helping this home. This is just one more step in making this the best possible environment for the children with the limitations in this area.
CCIM Children’s Home – India: Thanks to the generosity of our partners, this home recieved new bedding and blankets. The children in this home continue to thrive and the home itself continues to win awards from the government, is featured in local and regional media and literally has a waiting list of children who are social orphans that want to live here so they can have proper care and attend school instead of working in the fields for their relatives who are currently their “caretakers”.
